X troubles
Hey all...
I am having trouble configuring X. I am using KDE. The video card I am using is an old 3DFX Voodoo 3 16 MB card. For some reason I am unable to get a resolution of 1024x768. The option is displayed in the X config area of KDE but it wont stay there. When I restart it goes right back to 800x600. I noticed that when I go to make the changes it always gives me the option of using XFree86 3.somthing, XFree86 4.5 (I believe) and XFree86 4.5 with 3D acceleration. I have tried all three of these and nothing changes. I am sorry I cant give you the exact versions for the XFre86. At this point I messed around with it so much that when I boot into KDE I get a blank black screen. How can I configure this manually so I can atleast boot into KDE again and then after that how can I get it to display 1024x768?? Thanks for the help! David :study: |

Try using the xf86config command to atleast boot your box to kde.... Then to make the default display to 1024x768 you have to edit the ' XF86Config ' file manually. Under the screen sections if your using DefaultDepth 16 you should edit the line under: Depth 16 Modes "1024x768" "640x480" "800x600" ViewPort 0 0 What ever is the first resolution in the Modes line will be the default resolution.... Hope this helps.... |
Thanks
Thanx for the help! Everything is working great now!
