Video Display Size Confusion
Hi, since reinstalling Ubu9.04 from disk, I'm unable to view many MP4 videos. My laptop only has 3 settings for res. Here's some lshw:

It seems that I either have to add an entry to xorg.conf of high res.
OR increase value of (dot)clock which seems to be at 66. Both of which are proving hard. It also seems that I'm the only person in the solar system who has had this issue:scratch: |
First of all, you need to be root to edit your xorg.conf file or to change mode on your xorg.conf file.
Please show us your xorg.conf file and your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file. Adam |
Instead of making your comments blue, wrap command output in [code] tags.

Thanks Adamk,

Thanks MTK, snooping around here for code-tag-wrapping tool right now.
No sarcasm, little tips like that are great, and no harm in having to look more carefully at toolbars etc. |
Found it, that was EASY

You posted only part of the Xorg.0.log file twice. We need to see the full log file and the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.

Sorry! Here's Xorg.O log file. There's another there called (old)but for now I'll go get the xorg.conf one, will have to hunt a little.
Oh, before that I apparently have to break this one up into 4 posts! I dont know a sane way to do this, so I have here erased the first two thirds of the 80000 characters, hoping that it's as relevant as it looks. And now I'll go for the xorg.conf. (By the way, I'm fetching these files by copy/paste, is that right?) There'll be overlap as I get the other sections, cos not possible to be sure where I am in it, will just take two more chunks of about the middle and top thirds of the file. Code:
too large for virtual size) |
A suggestion :-) Many pastebin services (such as http://pastebin.com) will take really large files. You can dump the files there and then simply provide a link in your post here.
