UBUNTU wired network not working after motherboard replacement

Hi,

I have a Dell studio 15 and I have windows vista and ubuntu 9.10 installed. I recently had to get my motherboard replaced and now my ubuntu is not getting connected to LAN. The motherboard is exactly same...and all other softwares are working jus fine and morever I can conect to internet through vista.( I am not sure if I can connect through wireless.) I got my laptop back after 10 days and many things at halt and I want this to be fixed quickly.

Thanks,

The motherboard will have had onboard Ethernet so the MAC address will have changed for the interface. make sure the config is not restricted by MAC also check as udev might have kept the old NIC as eth0 and the new one is eth1

Eth1

I did see something configured to eth1 and as i went through some earlier threads, I changed the etc/network/interfaces and added the line

auto eth1
iface eth1 inet dhcp

(it didnt help)
