Ubuntu installation Process lacking documentation ...
Yes, I believe that Ubuntu is a good Operating System but if one need to have sixth sense and have a deep knowledge of Unix/Linux OS then it is pointless and futile task.
What a New User is about is that it wants to have the Ubuntu OS Interface, like Windows for Example where you can readily use the Icons to go where you want. I have placed the Ubuntu 12.02 aside for a year an a half because it didn't get me where I wanted, That is to the GUI Desktop. Now I am confronting the same with Ubuntu 14.04 and same outcome, "Blank" Screen after the Install went fine because I saw the Desktop when it was Installing, but now again it is black. What is it that one has to go to extra length to just get a Basic Desktop working?
I have urgent need to use Ubuntu and time is of the essence!
Could try Mint (or a netinst and set it up however you* want) or one of hundreds of others... (eg:http://distrowatch.com/search.php but best to keep learning as well. It's not windows. Thank people!
1. It's not a great idea to use your email address as a userid.
2. Please avoid using terms like "urgent". We are volunteers here and what is urgent for you isn't urgent for us. A bit of patience please and help will be forthcoming.
3. Can you tell us the method you used to install Ubuntu. If you burned an installation CD, where did you download the iso image from? Same question for using a USB stick for installation.

Can you explain what you mean. What exactly is your set up. Is Ubuntu sharing the disk with another OS? What do you see on your screen when you boot up?
In general a more detailed description of how you installed and what exactly you see when you start up your machine would be useful.
jdk
good day JDKAY, Thank you for your comments on user id and other positive hints.
i am open to suggestions and methods of alteration to my user id and password also!
I have used both methods (CDROM) and 32GB Flashdrive to install Ubuntu to two different machine. My LapTop is an Old COMPAQ Presario that has Windows 2000 Professional that has become Unusable for Internet usage. I got the ISO file from the Internet on another of my computers, so when I Bootup it shows both OS Windows 2000 and ubuntu. The Installation part went fine but it was asking me for the Modem and password that I could not enter because the Installation process was not allowing me to do even though it was showing the GUI. It was a long Install process where I could see the Aries Picture on the purple background. After the Installation I was to reboot, which I did, expecting the GUI to show up, but instead got a blackscreen. Same scenario with my HP Computer, always black scree. Then there is the ubuntu Login and password that i have been unable to resolve even though I tried many clues provided by users.
I am a patient man, I will wait and keep trying. This whole thing should not be so difficult.

Can you be more specific? Did you get it from the Ubuntu site or somewhere else? It seems you are trying to create a dual booting system (Windows/Linux) and not a single OS system. Is that correct? If so your problems may concern the Windows aspect of your installation and the exact method you used to create these systems.
The more detail that you give use the easier it will be to see what your problem is.
Did you leave the default for "Device for Bootloader Installation" while installing Ubuntu?
Which installation option did you use?
How did you put the Ubuntu iso on the flash drive, which specific software did you use?
The link below is the official Ubuntu download site. Is that where you got your iso of Ubuntu?
The Installation part went fine but it was asking me for the Modem and password that I could not enter because the Installation process was not allowing me to do even though it was showing the GUI
I'm not sure what you mean by the above. You need to create a user and give the user a password during the install. Were you unable to do this? Don't know what your reference to the modem refers to.
The black screen can be the result of a number of things, most commonly are the incorrect installation of the bootloader or a problem with the graphics card. If you haven't resolved this, posting some info on your hardware and answers to the questions above by myself and jdkaye above would be a good start.
I got the "Iso" from the Ubuntu site and paid the $2.00 to be able to Download it to my download directory on another Machine, then transferred it to my usb key and inserted the key into my Laptop (Compaq Presario that has Windows 2000 present), then started the wubi.exe, all went fine there, it seems like it is always after the installation, when it says to Reboot and do that part that after I am getting a Black Screen instead of the GUI.
Today I will restart my Laptop again and se from there on. I will let you know of the result and description of what happened.
WUBI, which is Windows UBuntu Installer is no longer being developed and isn't supported. It was meant for people to test Ubuntu in a manner similar to using a Live CD and is installed as a program inside windows. Never used it myself, but you should be able to get it to work on an older windows system. The problem might be your hardware, specifically RAM and processor.
