Slackware Lilo Problem
Hey everyone,
i installed Slackware today and it encountered a problem with lilo during install... and now it just boots up windows xp professional like usual.. is there a way to install lilo again? without installing all of slackware again :Pengy: |
you can try with lilo boot floppy, or with SystemRescueCd (http://www.sysresccd.org/)
|
where can i get lilo?
|
boot from lilo boot floppy, or with SystemRescueCd and reinstall lilo
edit your lilo.conf and then run "lilo" to reinstall it to MBR you can even try boot with your slackware install cd and then run liloconfig |
k im new to linux so that was very confusing...
i duno what to do...im getting the cd to see if i can work that out |
you can boot from the slack cd #1.
put the cd in, reboot, and at the boot prompt, type bare.i root=/dev/hdX no initrd ro (the X being whatever partition number linux lives on...) once it boots up, log in as root, and at the prompt, type liloconfig and it will start and ask you some questions and walk you through the install of LILO |
i have the cd....
duno what to do now lol and the slackware method didnt work :( |
i suggest you to read Slackware Essentials Book
http://www.czslug.cz/documents/Slack...Essentials.pdf and the try install it again |
Reinstalled Slackware.....
No luck. :( tried to create a lilo floppy disc.... No Luck. :( any ideas? |
