screwedup xfree86
I was trying to follow some instructions to enable 3d acceleration on my laptop (compaq x1000 w/ ati radeon 9200 - dula boot XP pro & RH9)
I ended up using the command "ps aux | grep dm" running fglrx (the video card install) . Now my Xserver wont start and all i have is a command line. Does anyone have any siggestions? |
To find out what the error was you first need to establish where the XFree86.0.log is. In debian its in /var/log/ so /var/log is a good place to start looking so do cd /var/log then do ls and see if you can see it. It may also have a separate directory. When you do find it do cat /var/log/....XFree86.0.log and go down it and find the error. You'll probably have a tool under RH to fix it (/etc/X11/XF86Config-4) graphically or you can use an editor to do so.
