I have almost the same problem as with pwo0123 ,
i formatted my windows C: drive and after re installation of windows , Grub "the boot loader" stopped showing up.. knowing that i use RedHat Linux 9...

Thank u for your help in advance.

Have you installed LILO on the master boot record (mbr)?. You may want to get yourself Fedora Core instead of using Redhat 9. Redhat 9 reached its end a while ago and was replaced by Fedora core and Redhat Enterprise Linux. There are no more security updates and support for Redhat 9 and below from Redhat.

thank u reddaz for the reply;

I tried booting form the CD and upgrade linux, and tried changing the of the boot loader to LILO instead of GRUB hopeing that LINUX would write LILO as a new boot loader.

Looking through the documentation, i found a warning about the mistake i did... that installing windows would earas MBR...
Rhe question is how to re-write a new MBR including GRUB or LILO ?

I'm willing to try other distributions of LINUX, but I've go to get my lunux running for now, because I have workfiles on the LINUX paritition that I need to retreve back to WINDOWS partitions..

it works

hey guy thanks of the replies. i got my redhat to run by using the grub bootloader instead of the Lilo. i still think lilo is better but grub works great

Redhat prefers grub, all new versions of Fedora and RHEL use grub and don't even have lilo as an option.
