On a brand new build I found out with UEFI, that UEFI + Legacy is a option in the new click BIOS that comes together. I couldn't choose just Legacy by it's self. In other words UEFI + Legacy are tied together-

This may be different for others but this applied to a brand new MSI z87gd65 (gaming) motherboard with the new click BIOS accompanied by UEFI and Windows ready.

After looking at new mobo's online I found that a lot of the new boards are UEFI now.

From studying the UEFI documentation I learned that for the sake of Windows UEFI booting, the Linux bootloader should also be installed in UEFI-GPT Mode if booting from the same disk. (I don't know how, sorry)

For Linux to access UEFI Runtime Services, the UEFI Firmware processor architecture and the Linux kernel processor must match. It is independent of the bootloader used.

Hope this helps.

I going to suggest you read through this link.

-->http://mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/sl...EADME_UEFI.TXT

This is the file for Slackware, I know it is not the distro you are trying to install, however it will
give you some idea of then things that need to be done on a UEFI system in order to install Slackware64.

Most of this will apply to all distros. For example, you can only install a 64 bit version on most UEFI systems. You need a boot partition, and other things.

I hope this helps.
