Inserting Text for drivers
I have come across numerous threads which advise me to download certain drivers and then "add the following lines of text". My question is:-
How do I insert drivers and how do I insert the lines of text? I am completely new to Ubuntu so please help me to get started.........Dave |
well we need more information than you've given really. normally that would refer to something like adding a line of configuration to /etc/modules.conf to load a driver on boot which is just done via your preferred text editor. What you've described sounds like modifying source code or some such, which i'm sure won't be the case.

Give us an example of what you mean (post a link to a thread).

If I was you, I'd be following the advice in the last post (#5). Haven't tried it (as I don't have such a requirement), but it certainly has simplicity in its favour.
Open a browser window and use http://localhost:631 as the address. Proceed as per that post. |
problem Solved
I solved the problem of not being able to load drivers for Lexmark 1100 series by buying a Canon Pixma 4500........Dave

that's one serious sledgehammer to crack a pretty small nut. those threads suggest it's only a few simple tasks to get it working.
