Inserting Text for drivers
I have come across numerous threads which advise me to download certain drivers and then "add the following lines of text". My question is:-
How do I insert drivers and how do I insert the lines of text? I am completely new to Ubuntu so please help me to get started.........Dave

well we need more information than you've given really. normally that would refer to something like adding a line of configuration to /etc/modules.conf to load a driver on boot which is just done via your preferred text editor. What you've described sounds like modifying source code or some such, which i'm sure won't be the case.

I really need a step by step guide on how to load the Z600 drivers once I have saved them to my Desktop and how to insert the text suggested.

If I was you, I'd be following the advice in the last post (#5). Haven't tried it (as I don't have such a requirement), but it certainly has simplicity in its favour.
Open a browser window and use http://localhost:631 as the address. Proceed as per that post.

that's one serious sledgehammer to crack a pretty small nut. those threads suggest it's only a few simple tasks to get it working.
