Assuming you're on fedora as that silly little icon suggests run "yum install pidgin" as root (open a terminal and run "su -" then enter the root password) for a chat client which supports YahooooooOooooooOOOOO!!!!111 and as for bittorrent clients, there are loads available, but I can't recommend a good one. if you run "yum search bittorrent" you'll get a list of all applications for bitorrent so you can have a look.

Alternatively all this stuff is accessible via the software installation gui in the system administration menu.

Note that you can't install windows software directly, this is NOT windows, it doesn't run windows software. There are always siutable functional equivalents though.

You do not say what computer you are using.

The Acer One uses Linpus Linux and this might help: "Add Apps to the Acer Aspire one" - http://www.laptopmag.com/Advice/how-...ps.aspx?step=1

The programs you mention, Yahoo Messenger and Utorrent, are NOT Linux programs. They are Windows programs. Do not try to load them. Find Linux equivalents e.g Pidgin and Azureus/Vuze.

(There is an old and useless Linux Yahoo Messenger but don't touch it!)

this is what I'm looking for. Thank you.
So it means I can't install Yahoo Messenger in Linpus?

arochester 02-01-2010 03:42 AM

If you use a program like Pidgin, and you give it some details, you will be able to see your Yahoo! contacts.

hikaru1207 02-01-2010 03:54 AM

Oh I see, I'll download it.
What about torrent? Those programs Azureus/Vuze support linux?

sohail0399 02-01-2010 04:29 AM

where should I type that code?

sohail0399 02-01-2010 05:09 AM

if you search and installed it successfully.

yum search <package>

yum install <package>

then its not only download but also install it.

now you need to use this application.

arochester 02-01-2010 05:10 AM

If you have installed Pidgin from the Package Manager look in your Menu to see if it is there.

If you can't find it open a Terminal again and input: pidgin

...it should start
