how to access printer installed in windows xp
 
hi..i am using ubuntu 9.10...i want to access printer which is installed in windows xp ..kindly help me

Share the printer from windows first. Add the appropriate drivers for the printer to your Ubuntu. Then add the printer in your Ubuntu either using cups or add printer wizard and select windows printer.

I would agree with most of that, but before you spend a long time searching for and installing the necessary printer drivers, you should know that there is a fair chance that they are already installed.

Not all though. Canon MP printers are left out. And even the Toshiba. It would be better if OP could tell what printer he/she is using.

PS: I am using Canon MP series with Ubuntu Karmic and drivers are not bundled. Need to download and install. But fairly simple job though.

Using the add printer feature of Ubuntu ought to get you there. HP usually has the drivers in Ubuntu already.
