Suse 9.3 seems to be waay out of date.

Please try a more recent distribution from here:
http://distrowatch.com
If you scroll down on that page to "Page hit ranking", Mint is top of the list right now (and I am very happy with it).

Heh, why are you running a version that is so many years out of date?

Guys, thanks for your help. This is resolved as I have downloaded Suse 12.2 - only problem is that it runs like a pig as my machine is very old and has limited (512mb) RAM. Thanks again.

for a machine with 512 meg
And guessing a old Pentium 4 cpu

i would install CentOS 6.4
it is a free rebuild of RHEL 6.4
i have a different rebuild ( ScientificLinux 6.3 ) running just fine on a computer from 2000/2001
though it has 1 gig ram
