Configuring Sound w/Tecra 8000 and SUSE
I have a Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop with SUSE 9.0. I'm having problems configuring the sound card. According to SUSE's website, I need to enter the following information in /etc/modules.conf :
alias char-major-14 opl3sa2 pre-install opl3sa2 modprobe "-k" "ad1848" post-install opl3sa2 modprobe "-k" "opl3" options opl3sa2 io=0x370 mss_io=0x530 mpu_io=0x330 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 options opl3 io=0x388 This information came from: portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2000/05/laptop_daten_toshiba_tecra-8000.html I logged in as root and entered this information in /etc/modules.conf and commented out the following lines: alias char-major-14 off alias sound off alias midi off After doing this, but my sound still does not work. Is there something else I need to do? Thank you, Todd |
if after rebooting sound does not work, you may want to look into some alsa drivers for your sound card
what is the name of your sound card? http://www.alsa-project.org/ |
Tecra 8000 sound
My Tecra 8000 with Red Hat 9 did not recognize the sound card either.
the answer is a small app sndconfig run sndconfig as root and configure the card as a SoundBlaster 16. The utility has a test function so you can try different settings. A check of my PC running SuSE 9 confirms that sndconfig exists on SuSE also dont even try the built in Winmodem :tisk: |
