boot.....
Hello evry1, Newbie here.... I am using dual boot system(windows 7 with scientific linux 6.0). Evrything was fine until I connected to internet using USB modem in SL 6.0. After I had finshed using it, I shut down and later when I restarted the scientific linux it hanged on boot, with cursor blinking continuously. Error it shows is "Starting NFS statd : failed".....dnt knw wat to do? Did I make my problem clear?

Maybe there was improper shutdown of Linux prior to getting this error? Check solutions here.

The first question is, how did you shut down SL? Did you just turn the system off? What kind of USB modem, and what did you do to make it work? Did you have any active NFS mounts? If SL was working fine, the obvious question would be, what changed? We need the EXACT error(s) you're getting...and are you able to get past that NFS error? If you wait, what happens? |
Sorry for making my "text speak"...Yes I had shut it down as I do normally. But before ejecting the USB modem there was some error messages, which I dont remember nw. Also I had problem in unistalling the modem software which I had installed using WINE. Since I could not install the modem using WINE, later I installed the modem driver manually. Then I got connected to the net and I shut it down........
