PCMCIA Initialization Lock-up

Hey, this is my first time installing Linux (Mandrake 9.1...) Installation goes great, but when the boot process gets to PCMCIA it just locks up and won't go any further. I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong (...which is largely because I don't really know what I'm doing at all...) but any help would be greatly appreciated. My computer is a Compaq Presario 2140 laptop, AMD 2200 processor, ATI radeon video. Not sure what other information to give out here.

Moving to the Laptop Forum where it will likely get more replies

If the top of my head, I don't really have any good answers, but maybe you can try expert mode and configure your own hardware... I know this is not something that a newbie should take on, but it might help you out.

That or see if you can disable your PCMCIA device for now, maybe through the BIOS or something (or just remove anything you've got in there, just for now) and then once you get installed, put it back in and configure it then.

You can also try a text based install that will give you better info on what's going on, you might actually get an error message you can post up.

Cool
