Ive made a bootable usb of Kali linux and verified the image. It installs all fine but when I get past the login screen it hangs, I can move the cursor for about 10 seconds then it freezes. However When i boot off the usb in live mode everything works fine. Any solutions to why this is?
is this a optimus CPU/GPU laptop ?
if so you need to use bumblebee
for the best help
register on the Kali forum http://forums.kali.org/
and ask for help there , Kali is a special purpose OS
built for really ONLY one use
i dont know what optimus is sorry, the cpu is intel celeron N2840 the exact e3-112-C2YE. ive registered on kali linux but they never sent me an activation email and ive contacted the admin but no response. Im going into cyber security MSC and want to penetration test my network etc to learn
Sorry, in Kali's case, I don't really know. Perhaps someone on here can help you with that. Using "nomodeset" may work but I'm not sure, I'm not entirely convinced this is a graphics issue.
EDIT: You could try pressing the E key at the GRUB menu, then go to the entry that has the kernel options and remove the word "quiet" and replace it with "nomodeset." Please use at your own risk! I'm not sure if the changes made here are permanent and the results may require more work and "know how" to undo.
Regards...

Reason: Changing and adding information.
nope, ubuntu installs perfectly fine, no driver issues or gfx issues either.
Hmm, I'm not sure what to suggest at this point. Hopefully, someone can come along and give you further assistance (or perhaps you can somehow get onboard the Kali forum,) but for right now, if Ubuntu, or another distribution, works without issue, then you might want stick with that.
