How to set up quick play button in fedora 8?
Hi,
I have a Hp pavillion dv 4401rs. It came with quick play button (volume, dvd, music). I recently install fedora 8. There is any way to make those button work properly? Please explain in detail because I am not a smart computer guy. Thanks |
I believe that those buttons start software that runs outside of any OS. It may be Linux-based. Think of it like Knoppix or a Live CD, but it runs off of a separate partition. If you formatted the entire drive and all partitions then you would need to reinstall Quickplay. If the partition is still there (it would be a very small one) then it would be a little trickier. Perhaps grub could interfere with the software being loaded?
Do you know how to recognize the drives in /dev/ ? For instance /dev/sda or /dev/sda2 Do you remember if during install you were warned that you were formatting the entire drive and all data/partitions? |
hi steve
thanks for your interest. Yes i recognize the partiotion on my h.d. sda1 is windows sda2 y for the boot de g parted sda3 is fo fedora. For used thoses button i have to install a software first. Thanks |
I hope it works out. Did you know that those buttons work when the laptop is off? I expected you to see the partition, but maybe not. I wonder if Fedora might not have seen the partition and overwritten it?
Good luck, Steve PS you would not normally have to install software first, only if it was accidentally erased. |
Hi Steve,
