i dont have any specific windows experience... but with most operating systems you would install it by putting a disk in the cd-rom and follow the prompts (or nowadays you usually install it from the live-usb and clik on the 'install to hard drive' icon on the desktop).

not being condescending but if this isnt the windows way, then you will probably get better answers from a windows forum.

There is no windows on my laptop yet. Only linux linpus is pre-installed, and when I boot it, it goes to terminal, ther is no UI. I've changed the first boot device to usb, but it doesn't work.

Is your Linpus installed in Legacy or UEFI mode? You should be able to check that in the BIOS. Have you tried different usb ports as on some notebooks with multiple ports, only one or two will be bootable.

It was uefi by default, but I changed it to legacy. Ive tried both.
Ther are 3 usb ports and I've tried them all.
.....
When I press F12 in boot logo, I can choose between cd and hdd, but by choosing both of them the linpus boot up.

On the Acer I use which is not the same as your, it is the F2 key to enter BIOS. If the only options you have are CD and HDD then there is no option for usb. It may be one of the options under HDD if you have any which will usually show the name of the medium, Toshiba, Sandisk, etc.

I get the feeling that a USB drive made for installing windows 8 (or 7) would show up as a hard drive order choice much like linux usb would.

Try typing this command while in the terminal and hit Enter-(provided the first boot priority is set to "HDD")
Code:
startx
If there is a gui it should take you to it-

Linpus Linux should show up in the output of:
Code:
fdisk -l
Run fdisk -l (small letter L) as root.

Not sure if you have the Linux Linpus DVD but this mentions needing it-
It could be that Linux Linpus is not configured properly-

If you have nothing on the laptop that you need to save, in might be easier to just download a Linux install disc from http://debian.org or http://fedoraproject.org (to name just two examples) and re-install Linux. We would certainly be more capable of helping you do that. For help on a Windows install, you should ask for help in a Windows forum. Your computer is not a "Linux computer" just because it has Linux on it; a computer is a computer, and if you need help installing an OS onto it, ask in a forum geared toward that OS.

while I agree that recommending Fedora to a newbie may not be such a good choice because of the very fast release cycle (and not so brilliant stability), I don't see the problem with Debian. Can you explain?

Evo2.
