crazy trackpad on acer c720/debian when power adaptor connected.

Hi all,

On my Acer C720 running debian sid, the trackpad functions normally once the usual patches (see http://blogs.fsfe.org/the_unconventi...ian-gnu-linux/) are applied.

However, it goes crazy whenever the power adaptor is connected. "Crazy" means fails to respond at all, or jumps to the other side of screen at the slightest touch, or does the wrong thing on clicks in various parts of the touchpad. It just goes crazy.

Has anyone else seen this?

Andrew.

Yes. At least in my laptop years ago. But it wouldn't take long you'd be able to solve that. I don't run Debian so my suggestions may come irrelevant. Just a hint though, three possible causes: need to configure the xorg.conf at the PointingDevice; or load the proper pointer module; else, if not solved there, then probably you need to change something in the BIOS configuration. This problem was not really critical, at least in my case.

Hope that hints.

Good luck.

Different netbook. Runs Salix. Also ran SolyDX. Also Puppy Slack0.

Same symptoms with power adapter plugged in. Power adapter is not stock but part number and model number matches
another netbook power adapter (same exact netbook) which does not freeze.

Gave up on it as I had 3 of these and the 2 with the after market power adapters were the only ones to exhibit
this behavior. I run a cheapo usb finger mouse to get around this.

Thanks,

Good? to hear this has happened on other hardware and can be specific to after market power adaptors (generating more rfi??).

Will look into proposed resolutions.

Andrew
