Intel Celeron 3965U and Intel Core i3-7100 processors support in 2.6.29 kernel

Hi All,

Due to lack of supply of the boards we are using, we are trying to replace with Intel Celeron 3965U or Intel Core i3-7100 processor based boards. We are using 2.6.29 kernel.

Does 2.6.29 kernel support Intel Celeron 3965U or Intel Core i3-7100 processor?

Guess this is a question that can only be tested live.

Such an old kernel should run a processor. The problem is even if that processor is run generic then there are a lot of side chips.

I'd consider running a modern computer with a VM for this old kernel.

Thanks for the reply. We are able to boot but kernel log says no pci devices found.

So the answer is yes, basically the cpu itself is ok, but probably other parts of the board is not supported or you need to have a driver.
