VGA mode not supported after install

i am a first timer using linux...just installed mandrake 10.0 and after install i reboot and get boot choices (linux, failsafe, 276-?, etc) i chose "linux" and recieve a "vga mode not supported" message. i can chose the other boot options to use the command line interface but since i'm a new user i obviously need the gui associated with the "linux" option. can someone please help or give some advice on how to fix the problem? probably fairly simple just i don't know.

Hi sblair_32, welcome to lq. Could you please provide some more details, e.g. your motherboard, video card, monitor model, etc?
good luck.

You might use this guide and choose generic vesa compatible as your driver.
