verizon Dsl modem compatible
I waas thinking about geting dsl and was wandering if the free modem from verison will work with redhat 8.0
|
i don't know but i was wondering the same thing! i have verizon DSL
and Knoppix 3.2 doesn't seem to work with my Westell modem |
If the modem connects via ethernet then you should be fine, is it's a USB connection then you may have problems.

it's an ethernet connection, but i still can't get online
|
What pppoe client are you using?
|
oh!oh! how can i tell?
|
Verizon DSL with the free Westel modem has worked "out-of-the-box" for me. Never had a problem with it.
|
modem work great in Windows , i'm on it now! it works in Lindows
but not with Knoppix |
Erm, the same happens with me on Verizon DSL... :newbie: it sets up the eth0 and all that stuff and I put in the username & password... but it doesn't work

I am on Verizon w/Westell modem and I went through hell trying to get RH connected(running slack now). For me thay use dhcp not pppoe. Verizon tech support was no help either, as soon as they heard "Linux" I think the vertigo set in.
This is what I has to do. From windows run "ipconfig /all" - without qoutes. write down all information i.e. IP address,Subnetmask, Default Gateway... boot into RH and put in these values. connect. It has always worked for me. |
Well for me it uses pppoe, but I'll try that anyway.
