Upgrading Hard Drive in FTP Server
 

I have a CentOS 5 server that is just a simple FTP server. Problem is that the hard drive is giving me bad sector errors. So I have a new (and larger) hard drive to replace it with.

So my question is, what is the best way to upgrade your hard drive size while keeping the system intact? (ie: Not reinstalling OS). For example on a Windows box you can use Norton Ghost and it will automatically adjust your partition size to use entire new hard drive. I know that the dd command in linux works great when the drives are the same size. I'm not using LVM.

So to summarize, how can I clone my system to a new and larger hard drive?

essentially, you copy everything to the new drive, chroot your system root to the new drive and then fiddle with the boot loader to point to it.

the slax forum has a guide on how do to just that for the live cd (i've tried, it works and i'm a linux noob), and theres no real reason that it wouldnt work on a manly installation
