Apparently karmic is a bummer. Get onto ubuntu forums.

this is definitely a kernel problem
since i upgraded my kernel on ubuntu 9.4 just prior to the release of karmic i am facing this problem .... oh i have updated my nvidia driver also |
Kernel or video driver, which is often a kernel type module. Try updating that
|
the kernel was updated yesterday but the problem yet remains there
|
Have you got the latest video driver installed?
The idea here, incidentally, is that we help you SOLVE the problem by directing _your_efforts_, which is what will solve the problem. What have you tried? |
uname -a
Linux ankush-laptop 2.6.31-15-generic #50-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 10 14:53:52 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux nvidia-185 module is being used any files to check please do tell me |
Have you overlay support now? Have you tried updating the driver from the nvidia site? What does xawtv say now? What is not supporting overlay? What has xawtv docs got to say about the error 'no overlay support'. Have you asked there? Nobody's got a magic wand - it only sometimes seems that way:)

Find out how to get gstreamer going and keep after the first error messages. When you fix them, you can believe the rest. Quote:
