Help with Printer XP-640 from Epson?

New Epson XP-640 printer spits out blank pages when asked to print. Anyone seen this before? I will just have to get another one unless someone has seen and fixed this before?

Following on from your earlier thread, I assume you configured CUPS to use the 'epson-201208w' driver package, and that it this driver that isn't working as hoped?

Confirm with
Code:
egrep "Name|Model|Filter" /etc/cups/ppd/*
BTW does a CUPS test page print successfully?

The driver for the XP-640 loads OK
No need to use the driver suggested.

How do you use cups as I have it but will not load?

Which driver is that? (Confirm with the command I gave.)

Can you get to the CUPS web interface using a browser?

http://localhost:631/printers

Yes, but I cannot longer test it because the printer was broken. Have bought a new one arriving Friday and sending the old one back for a refund.

I bought another printer and it does the same. It appears it will only work with Windoze and works fine.

It seem the drivers for Linux do not work.

Do you know what other driver might work? The one you mentioned was for the XP-610 and didn't work at all.

Solved it works with the XP-700 series driver.

Thanks for your help.

Good to know. Sometimes these things take a bit of experimentation.
