After having battled furiously with this issue for around 3 or so hours, I decided to give up (for a few moments, whilst sharpening my sword) and turn to the community for help.
So the problem is as follows:
I have noticed a particular problem with my Focusrite Scarlett Solo that is impacting my day-to-day usage of Ubuntu 15.04, which is the amount of latency generated by said DAC in OpenGL-applications. For example, whilst playing Team Fortress 2, Legend of Grimrock or Democracy 3, any actions such as clicking or WASD-movement are processed as normal but the following sound comes much later than supposed to. So if I click a menu-button in any of these games, the menu will open but the actual 'click' sound is played back much later. This however only happens whilst using the DAC. If I use my motherboard's inbuilt soundcard, the sounds work just fine without any problems and without horrible latency.
Alright, that could be caused by PulseAudio being PulseAudio so naturally I decided try ALSA on it's own. That's where my second problem comes from. Alsamixer does not properly recognize the DAC. It does get it's name correct as "Scarlett Solo USB" and choosing it displays the chip as "USB Mixer", however Alsamixer gives out "This sound device does not have any controls" when I choose the device and I cannot get any sound out of it.
Running Ubuntu 15.04 and 3.19.0-25-lowlatency kernel. Using the generic kernel gives even worse latency.
