CANbus interface installation

Hello,
I want to use CAN device on Linux and have got some problems with installation. I compiled kernel with SocketCAN driver and all other CAN patches out there.
Right now when I type:
Code:
ip link set can0 up type can bitrate 250000
Cannot find device "can0"
I don't know how to add the device and configure it properly.

When your device is detected by the kernel, the kernel will create a device called "can0".

The error message is saying that there is no such device called "can0", meaning that the kernel didn't find your CAN hardware.

Relevant questions now are: What hardware do you have? What does the kernel say when it boots?

The maker of the can card usually has detailed information on that. We have no idea right now if your build is working or if the card is good or what.

Some help maybe. http://elinux.org/Bringing_CAN_interface_up

Ok, problem is solved. The supplier connected CAN module to COM port inside the device, whereas should use inner USB connector.
After reconnection interface is available in the system as ttyUSBx.
