how to make it effect to user when we add a user to a group


Code:
gpasswd -a user1 mail
i use above command to add a user to a specific group , but it is not going to work until user next login .

do i miss anything to make it effect online user ?

No. The credentials for a process are set when the process is created. Only a process with elevated privileges can change its group memberships (setgroups(2) system call).
