Personally I would like to see the Thief series and the first two Total War games, nothing more, nothing less. Not going to happen though in either case. |

There are enough Linux versions of games on Steam to make porting it worth while I would think. If Steam is available on Linux then it would prompt more game vendors to design for Linux since there will be a clear and simple means to distribute it. What games in Steam currently have Linux versions? Let me tell you some... Alien Swarm Bit.Trip Runner Cave Story+ DOOM 3 Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Gratuitous Space Battles Heretic Hexen Jamestown NightSky Postal 3 (to be released) Quake: The Offering Quake 2: Colossus Quake 3: Arena Quake 4 Return To Castle Wolfenstein Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Savage 2: A Tortured Soul Serious Sam: The First Encounter Serious Sam: The Second Encounter Serious Sam 2 Shadowgrounds Shadowgrounds Survivor Shank Super Meat Boy Unreal Gold Unreal Tournament 2003 Unreal Tournament 2004 X2: The Threat X3: Reunion X3: Reunion - Special Edition Wolfenstein 3D Other major games which have Linux versions which aren't on Steam: Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Heroes of Newerth Prey Savage: The Battle for Newerth Games which most certainly have a potential to be easier to port to Linux are: All games in the Mac store of Steam. Major titles including Valve's own Orange Box (Which include source games) and many other games. Any game which depends on the source engine (there are a lot). With so many big titles currently available for Linux and the prospects of more customers a Linux version of Steam would make sense wouldn't it? SAM |
Never been a gamer, but it was nice to play Midtown Madness (I and II) and Caesar III (if I'm not mistaken with the version) :)

Mania drive is an example of a game that could be paid for.

You might be interested in this: http://www.desura.com/ They have a linux client now. Sorta like steam. Kinda. Honestly for me free software is great and I mentioned some games I particularly like earlier in this thread. My main gripe though is that there isn't enough games that directly support gamepads/joysticks and thus my dreams of having a small linux htpc with gaming features is still out of reach. I don't want emulators really. I'd much rather have a new game optimized and done up pretty natively. Too bad we can't get a quake 3 engine based game that plays well with a gamepad. I tried with tremulous once, only good it can do is using the joystick in one hand and having the mouse in the other. Which isn't all that great. Who am I to complain though? I'm not putting much effort into coding that stuff myself. |
I, too, would buy games from Steam if it had a working Linux port. For example I keep meaning to buy UT2004 but always end up wondering if it will definitely work on my system then not doing it -- if the Linux port was on Steam I'd risk it and I'm sure it would be a small risk.
Xovan: I do wonder whether the lack of joystick/controller support is due to teh fact that PC (in its pre-marketroid sense) users prefer to use mouse+keyboard and generally eschew other controllers for FPSs -- which seem to be what everyone goes on about when they talk about serious gaming. |

Jack 5.0
I need a bridge game, preferably Jack 5.0, or something similarly comprehensive and challenging. H tried loading my windows cd using wine, but no luck yet. still reading, searching. maybe soon will have it. but am surprised bridge game is not already available since it is such a popular card game.
|
Jack 5.0 is a sophisticated bridge game for windows. I'm new and have tried to import using wine. Probly not doing something right. I'm very surprised Linux doesn't already have a bridge game. Seems it would fit nicely with brainy Linux users.

"Mount and Blade"
http://youtu.be/Tt5AmqA3STc http://youtu.be/GqMjx-j6Lj8 http://youtu.be/8FLmr3PWbJw and "Mount and Musket" (which I think is a mod for M&B). http://youtu.be/tcoZgU4PV4w There are many mods for this game :D |
Not to fussed as i'm not a big gamer, but if rpg maker (in particular xp) came out in a unixlike os version, i'd actually buy it.
Other then that, i don't tend to play games on my computer. |
