It is and I had started a list of working games, but now it is more of a case of which ones don't work. I had put a lot of time into configuring Wine to run Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim, so was happy to switch to Linux permanently, although Skyrim was sluggish. Now, with no effort, Skyrim is smooth as butter. While it may seem like time wasted on Wine, it gave me confidence that you could run quite a lot of games in Linux going forward.

June 2008 it looks like... I think the earliest 'I wish' I saw was 2006...

Totally agree. I struggled with SkyrimSE to start with (freezing) and then suddenly there are no issues at all. Oldrim (Skyrim) can be awkward when quitting - I use pkill - but it used to be the same on Windoze... I tried to move to Linux a couple of years ago and its failure to run Skyrim reliably was why I gave it up but really now it's easy. I didn't even need my husband to help install Wine - it more or less did it itself. Totally, absolutely agree that you can game (and for me that's RPG) on Linux... (and Linux is fun in itself)...:)

All of them...

Would love to see Fallout 3 ported, though I realize that is unlikely.

Would love to see Dungeon Siege (the original version, with Legends Of Arana) ported over. Since that is an older game, less demanding on the graphics, etc, maybe it could happen?

Would really love to see Carrier Command from the Amiga (also ran on the Atari ST) ported. That was a fun game.

p.s. Until recently I'd also been wishing for Morrowind to be ported ... and it has. I've recently started playing OpenMW and it actually works ... and with mods!

Fallout 3 works perfectly via Steam - been playing it on Linux for quite a while - not much point in porting it when it works so well.

For our next newsletter, we’d like to know what game you’re hoping comes to Linux this year, and why. Who knows, maybe we’ll even port some of them!

I guess i would like Crytek to start supporting Linux as a target platform for their Cryengine, and ship an working editor and SDK for it
