UT2003 install how-to

I need a link to a UT2003 install how-to. I don’t seem to be able to find anything on simply installing the game.

Thanks

i'm not sure, but from what i understand there's a linux installer on one of the ut2003 cds (third, i think)...

it would probably be a binary file, or maybe a script or something, but it should be there...

Here's how i installed UT2003.

-Mount Disk 3
-insert ANY write protected floppy disk into your floppy drive (there is a bug in the installer which causes it to endlessly search for a disk if one is not present)
-type 'sh /mnt/cdrom/linux_installer.sh' without quotes(or whatever the location of your cdrom is)
-when it asks you to mount the play cd, mount disk 1. when it asks for disk 1, mount disk2, and when it asks for disk 2, mount disk3 again (i know it sounds dumb, but that's because it is!)
-Prepare to be fragged by my superior skill!
-Enjoy

You don't have to mount them. Just put it in a click yes. Mounting it manually can cause issues.

Thanks now What ?

Thanks
It seemed to have installed with no problem. It even put icons in the games menu. Now here is the new issue. When I start UT it seems to start fine and I get a splash screen. Then when the game stars the screen goes black then just jumps back to the desktop. Is this a resolution problem ? Any ideas let me know
Thanks

hmm. do you have the latest drivers for your video card installed, or are you just using the default redhat ones?? What card do you have? If you have the drivers installed, do 'lsmod' in a terminal window to see if they are loaded (i have a radeon 9200 so the driver appears as fglrx) and then modprobe drivermodulename to load it. And also just try restarting (sometimes it just works!).

I know it's a reply for an older post, but things in the Linux world have changed.

The Linux install script for UT2003 was made with what is now an older version of Makeself (2.0.1 v. 2.1). Here's a HOWTO with links to the homepage and a tutorial for Makeself if you are interested.

You need to lie to the installer or it won't run. You do this by passing some information as described below.

First, we need to set a workable POSIX version value.

# export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209

Second, set a usable libc version.

# export SETUP_LIBC=glibc-2.1

Then third, tell the installer that we are running on a 32-bit system (in case you are installing on a 64-bit system. Otherwise, disregard this line.).

# linux32 ./linux_installer.sh
