Linux for 64bit processors

Being new to linux I don't really know the relative merits of one distribution over another!

Which linux distribution for 64 bit processors would you recommend?

Thanks

I have no idea about the first statement (Consequently, it is not in the quote ;) )

If you want to try out a GNU/Linux Distribution, you can try Knoppix for 64-bit processor.

Try Ubuntu Linux (or Kubuntu) if you would like a distribution installed on the Hard disk drive.

This is because Linux From Scratch is a distro in itself.

Perhaps, the name indicates, something else too, and therefore, I feel, the OP had posted it there. ;)

It does, but that's why I moved it. :)

I prefer Debian Etch or Sid...easy to maintain.
