Xorg - nv not loading because of nvidiafb

Hello there.

A week earlier I compiled my own kernel. Besides some problems everything went well, speaking of the console part. Though, I think something is wrong with graphic drivers blocking each other.

Maybe because of these lines in my new kernel config...:
Code:
CONFIG_FB_NVIDIA=y
CONFIG_FB_NVIDIA=i2C
CONFIG_FB_NVIDIA_BACKLIGHT=y
... the nvidiafb module has been built into the kernel and is loaded every time while booting up.
That would also explain my new fancy, colored, high resolution console...

If I try to start X, the following error message appears in the log:
Code:
(EE) NV: The PCI device ... (GeForce Go 7600) at ... has a kernel module claiming it.
I already have blacklisted nouveau. Also my xconf.conf and my 10-monitor.conf are correctly configured (driver is nv). When I'm running my previous kernel everything goes right.

I think the solution is simply rebuilding my kernel without the nvidiafb module. But what should I do, when I want to use this high resolution console again? Are there any fb modules not blocking my card?

Greetings, borsti

A question?
Why do you want the old 2d ONLY "nv" driver ?
it was replaced by the Nouveau driver

but
the NVIDIA.run ( or the .deb for ubuntu ) is still the best for 3d

To be honest, I was used to nv.. Never used another driver before (except proprietary ones). I guess I'll try other drivers soon.

Back to topic: my problem got solved with rebuidling the kernel and disabling the options, I posted above.
