1 - Come installed on every new computer you buy, either you want or not, like it or not.

2 - You have to pay for it. Since you can't buy a new computer without Linux on it, you are paying for a license already.

3 - It has to have two versions. Pro and Home. They are exactly the same, but the Pro costs more.

4 - Press other companies to make exclusive deals with Linux, as Dell, to distribute only Linux, or hunt their licenses.

5 - Make it expensive. If it's free, it can't be good...

6 - During the installation, tells the user how good and innovative it is, even though, most of the features has been used for years (as 3D desktop).

7 - Make deals with companies to create crappy, cheap hardware as "Linux-modems".

8 - Replace the gnome foot by a start button.

9 - Replace "/" for "\" and some paths have to change too. /home/user is stupid. Peoples like "C:\documents and settings\user" better. Same to /usr/local. The correct is C:\program files\

10 - Stop with all the case sensitive thing. IT'S just PLAIN stupid TO have A case SENSITIVE operating SYSTEM, it's ALL the SAME isn't IT?

11 - Keep it simple, keep it stupid.

I think those steps would increase a lot the market share linux owns today ;)

Man! I think you discovered the secret of Microsoft Corp.!
So thats there little secret they keep behind volts! ;)

fyi since Windows NT it has been possible to make the operating system case sensitive rather than merely case retentive, but it is not enabled by default out of backwards-compatibility concerns.

Less distros...more help on the bigger projects and some new projects for existing distros.

be more selective and restrictive on the sourceforge.net and the like,
more on the quality of application of new projects instead of the quantity
of new projects applied.
if then i seriously worry about my project though
