An over-exited female presenter on « France Inter » (maybe on drugs...) She does not wake me up but makes me want to go out and cut down more fire-wood. Efficient.
But I'll just switch to « France Culture » for a while. Edit: Okay, skip that. Too much about telephone-sanitizers. I'll get my chainsaws and dive into the heap of oak-wood. |

I was just introduced to this Danish lady's skills and was knocked out. For starters, anyone even attempting a Graham Nash tune is either incredibly skilled or delusional. You decide.... and then there's Norah...
-- Lady of the Island --- --- Ida Does Norah --- If that's just too soft for you here's a "palate cleanser".... ummm before you click understand it is a compilation of progress and the first few are amazing if you're impressed by Neo-Classical or Speed but she doesn't leave guitar playing behind and blossom into an actual Musician until she hits 15 years of age. I think the first clip is when she was around 11 or 12. --- French Girl Guitar Prodigy --- |

“John Barleycorn must die” (Traffic from the record.., probably “On The Road”)
For the thousands time I verify if “the men” made a solemn “oath” (like in all the lyric-sheets that I find on the web) or a solemn “mow” of John Barleycorn. The latter makes complete sense for barley that has been “cut off at the knee”, although they would not “wheel him around” a lot prior doing the mow, nor would they make a mow on John Barleycorn... if I am not erring. Songs that do not have much to do with my environment, sung in a language that is not my own, already cost an effort, especially when the audience is, more than me, concerned by both. Topping the imposture with wrongly spelled lyrics is not what I desire. There appears to be a 'th' at the end.. or Steve Winwood sings 'mow' and Jim Capaldi 'oath'. I prefer Jim Capaldi anyway. |
Good stuff!

You may have already seen this but to anyone else I'll issue a warning/caveat. This is NOT for casual listeners since it is raw and unrefined. This is Maynard in early Tool a full year before they hit it big, still in the process. It reminds me a bit of a photo of The Beatles taken a few months before their first album propelled them to Global fame, in a little gig attended by about 20 people. It is telling that Tool didn't back off even a little bit. It may not yet be "ready for Prime Time" but they MEAN IT! --- Tool circa 1992 Full Set--- |

I'm pleased to see there is anything of a Rock 'n Soul Revival going on but I wish SNL or their record company hadn't pulled "Hold On" off of YouTube. It seems silly when SNL is on free Network TV and should qualify as Public Domain but whatever, that's how it is these days.
Anyway if you haven't seen and heard this band you really should even if just to discover really passionate music (that rarely gets made anymore) sounds like and if it appeals to you. You might need to try a few as they have rather wide influences and variety but held together with a unique style. Here's one decent tune - --- Alabama Shakes --- |

@rokytnji, definitely like the fuzziness of their g-tars in Buffalo Fuzz. Thanks!
@jamison20000e, I'm likin' Messer Chups more and more. The chic sporting the Betty Page look don't hurt none either ;) As far as Alice goes Alice Cooper - Generation Landslide and Alice Cooper - " Feed My Frankenstein are a couple of my favotites. --- Pink Pop Pearl Jam - Black --- I think it's absolutely inspiring and a proper historical note for a still great band. FWIW - the entire show is available --- HERE --- IMHO Rearview Mirror is particularly adrenaline amazing but Oh Man! was that a show to bemoan having missed it. ### OOps! Rearview is from 2000.. another great show :) even though I like Dave's drumming just a little bit more than Matt's. The powerhouse adrenaline tune from 1992 was the closer, an awesome cover of Neil Young's Rockin' In The Free World |
