Guess who's going to be on Enterprise?
 

Not that I've cared much for the show, but it really seems they are going to jump the continuity... the borg are going to be on Enterprise.

According to several episode descriptions on several sites, researchers find a crashed borg sphere in the arctic circle with borgs who (suprise!) regenerate and begin assimilating people.

One has to wonder how, when encountering such a species, it could have been completely forgotten by Picard's time and take away thier suprise? And secondly, wouldn't this make the Borg aware of humans and lead them to begin an attack against Earth then?

The record of the meeting of the borg could be locked down under some secret file much like the US does with its blackbox projects.

if the sphere is damaged enough then their transmitter would be shot and the may not have the proper resources on the world to repair it. no transmitter no phone home.

Even though, you have to admit that if they can salvage even the smallest amount of Borg technology from the sphere, there will be a significant shift of power in the quadrant.

I don't understand why they have to use the borg though. There's ALOT of interesting interactions between the specieis that could take place without having to introduce all of these species from TNG like the Borg and the Fernegi. :(

What you need to do is watch it, and then give us the answer you are looking for. If they don't do something in the end to say "And no one will ever know about this..." THEN we should get all upset ;)

Welp the borg episodes were probably some of their most popular which is why they want to use them again and again. It will get really bad if Q shows up. Also there has to be a significant shift of power because by the time of Star Trek TOS the federation is a big power in the quandrant and the vulcans are not baby sitting the Humans any more. Whether or not this should come from the borg is questionable.

but this does not work as it is supposedly James Kirk that first encounters the borg, indeed while they are still being born. (dont remember which movie but supposedly VGER -voyager- is the beginning of the borg)

WHAT!? You have me confused. I don't really understand what you are saying, but James Kirk NEVER encountered the Borg, and Voyager is NOT the 1st appearence of the Borg.

The Borg were introduced by Q to the crew in Star Trek: The Next Generation when he transported them to the Delta Quadrant to give them a glimpse of thier future adversery.

have'nt seen enterprise yet,but i have seen a lot of comment which indicates that it has become a hodgepodge of commercially successful panderings with little regard to continuity or genuine trek integrity. the vger mentioned above was in the first movie and was the original voyager spaceprobe launched in our time and which had eventually encountered some sort of machine culture which then enhanced its capabilities in accordance with its own programmed mission to gather data. by the time kirk et al came across it, vger was a major force in its own right,but i don't believe any borg were involved. with tng, i remember the q thing, but i seem to remember another episode where picard actually confronts or is confronted by the borg-too many fond memories to keep all straight-data rocks, but i don't know if i've ever heard truer words than when seven of nine says "resistance is futile"

I can't really believe that since the writers are reputed for keeping logical :D continueity.
Why go through all that research trouble for all those years and now write epsidodes that don't fit in to the chronological timeframe?

My favourite:
In one TNG episode the crew travels back in time and ends up on the first (James T Kirk) enterprise. The enterprise is then attacked by the Klingons and all gaze at Worf wondering why he looks so different from his ancestors....
He gets embarresed and claims it's a genetic thing....;-)

In Star Trek: First Contact, the Borg launch a probe towards earth which travels back in time. Is this the 'probe' the new show is talking about?

In theory, yes. Picard shot it down over 100 year ago. Why he was careless enoug to let it crash into the arctic circle is beyond me. Although I admit, if handled correctly, they could make into an interesting episode, but I doubt they will.

Little does it all matter, I quit watching Enterprise long ago because of the lame plots and cheesy acting (especially Sam Beckett). I'll probably watch the borg episode just to see how they handle it. They should hire me as a writer, I'd come up with some FASCINATING stories that they have, as of yet, failed to mine.

Hmmm.. that is interesting indeed. Perhaps VGER is the origin of the Borg?

I never watched the 1st Star Trek movie, because I assumed it sucked because 1) I heard it sucked, 2) it's rated G, and 3) pictures I've seen of it tell me it's cheesy.

So, uh... is that bald lady the Borg Queen?

The VGER as the birth of the Borg is, as far as I know, merely a theory on behalf of the fans. It is a well-known theory, however :)

An episode this season of Enterprise ("Dead Stop") I thought gave some strong hints towards a potential growth into Borg -- the crew encountered a space station that performed repairs on the ship for a very modest cost, but (spoilers, sorry) it turned out the space station was abducting people and "assimilating" them into its central brain.
