The OP is an personal attack-edited. My two cents. Spend as you will.

You are right, that should be changed, I never noticed that. It is noted in the release notes that there is a 64 bit version, but not in those infos.

Ubuntu as basic os, and use VirtualBox to 'play Win 8'. :)

Windoze 7 or 8 ... I'll stick to Mint, #!, Ubuntu, or Redhat.(I really don't want a virus pretending to be an operating system)

In our home the only time we have windoze on a computer is when we get it ... THEN I use Acronis disc clean and thoroughly wipe the HDD and install a preferred system. Yes I do a lot of distro hopping that way I know which OSs I like.

As anyone seen this youtube video. MS says they designed windows 8 to be intuitive for people who have little to no knowledge of computers. Anyway, Chris Pirillo got his father to try out windows 8, see the video to see how it turns out
How Real People Will Use Windows 8 |
Yeah, not having the Start-menu will drive people crazy. It is a standard for how many years that people click that if they want to start an application that doesn't have a desktop icon? I predict that they re-introduce the Start-menu not later than with Service Pack 1, but I think that one of the first "secret tips for Windows 8" will be how to activate a Start-menu (I really doubt that it is not part of the system, I rather think it is just deactivated). Or may be you can buy a Start-menu from third party developers.

I liked when his dad said "they're trying to drive me to Mac" :)

Sounds like a great opportunity for people to switch to Linux.....
EDIT: Ha! Did youse guys watch the one where pops used Ubuntu? He did better/got further with that than Win8 or OS10! |
Just seen it. His dad did had a little difficult in using multiple windows. I think Chris should have given him Mint kde version to try out.

God! i just watched that, and wasn't to bad. I haven't used Windows8, so just out of curiosity, how does one go about getting back to the tiles? I watched most of the mac episode, and it was horrible, it showed the man having issues with using an internet browser, not so much with osx. I Also watched most of the Ubuntu episode, there is a few issues that annoyed me. His dad has trouble using virtual desktops in Ubuntu, but Osx has virtual desktops too, they call them spaces; but (from what i watched) his dad didn't get a chance to use them. I like and use virtual desktops all the time, i use four, but i can not stand using them the way they're originally set up in each desktop environment, i set up hot corners to switch, and i think that Ubuntu's Unity should have been tested separately instead of being the basis of a Gnu/Linux distribution. Like GrepAwkSed, i'd like to see him use kde, mate, xfce or lxde. Don't know about Mint's kde, as i hear it's maintained by the community, but i've used Kubuntu, and i think it was horrible. As a kde user who also values stability (this is where Ubuntu screws up), i've found It's pretty hard to beat Opensuse.
