Mouse pad driving me insane!
Hi, i've recently got a laptop and finally got into the mousepad / touchpad thing. However in certain applications (esp. gedit) I keep on pasting unintentionally. At first this wasn't a real problem but I now seem to be doing it more often and this morning i've probably spent a full hour chasing down numerous stupid paste errors (and i'm in php with error reporting off!). I've looked through most settings on both Fedora8 and gedit, but i'm not spotting anything. Surely theres a simple setting somewhere. Please save the life of my laptop before it gets seriously hammered! ;)

You may have to do like I did, give up and buy a USB mouse and use your pant leg if you can not find a counter top.
|
not sure if it's fixed it but it seems good so far...
xorg.conf Code:
Section "InputDevice" |
rubadub, that setting should work. Just restart X by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and it should re-read that config file. Or you can restart your computer. Whichever is more convenient
|
Yep, done a few hours today and no miscellaneous paste flying around, so i'd say that it did the trick!
|
A few hours more and two incidents... so problem not solved (can't do it to order though!)
|
So what button or where on the mousepad is the pasting occurring from?
|
I can't do it to order. It's happened when finger is along bottom or top-right... I've seriously spent 20 mins whilst talking to a pal trying to invoke it, it just makes no sense to me.
I did have a read of many mans last night, but not really what I need. I'll probably get a bit deeper this weekend? |
