EPSON PERFECTION 3170 PHOTO SCANNER on FC1
Sir,
I am using Fedora Core 1 and want to install the above titled scanner. The sane related rpm are as follows : xsane-0.91-1 libsane-hpoj-0.90-19 sane-backends-devel-1.0.12-4 sane-backends-1.0.12-4 xsane-gimp-0.91-1 sane-frontends-1.0.11-3 Also downloaded iscan-2.8.0-1.i386.rpm for gcc-3.2/gcc3.3. The necessary product code and the vendor code has been inserted by "insmod scanner vendor=XXXXXX product=XXXXX". I am able to find the scanner with "sane-find-scanner". The output of lsmod is as follows : [root@localhost root]# lsmod |more Module Size Used by Not tainted ppdev 6956 0 (autoclean) i810_audio 29064 1 (autoclean) ac97_codec 17420 0 (autoclean) [i810_audio] soundcore 7044 2 (autoclean) [i810_audio] parport_pc 19204 1 (autoclean) lp 9252 0 (autoclean) parport 39072 1 (autoclean) [ppdev parport_pc lp] autofs 13780 0 (autoclean) (unused) rfcomm 40768 0 (autoclean) l2cap 22604 2 (autoclean) [rfcomm] bluez 44644 1 (autoclean) [rfcomm l2cap] 8139too 17576 1 mii 4140 0 [8139too] floppy 58908 0 (autoclean) sg 37580 0 (autoclean) sr_mod 18200 0 (autoclean) microcode 5024 0 (autoclean) scanner 12124 0 ide-scsi 12400 0 scsi_mod 111528 3 [sg sr_mod ide-scsi] ide-cd 35904 0 cdrom 34208 0 [sr_mod ide-cd] keybdev 2976 0 (unused) hid 24740 0 (unused) ehci-hcd 20776 0 (unused) usb-uhci 27436 0 (unused) usbcore 82912 1 [scanner hid ehci-hcd usb-uhci] mousedev 5688 1 (autoclean) input 6208 0 (autoclean) [keybdev hid mousedev] i830 74976 1 agpgart 55428 12 (autoclean) ext3 74148 4 jbd 56624 4 [ext3] The content of the file /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf is as follows : scsi EPSON usb vendor=0x04b8 product=0x0116 usb /dev/usb/scanner0 Now whenever in terminal window i am issuing command as follows : [root@localhost sane.d]# iscan then a window is opened with the error message : "Could not send command to scanner. Fedora Core 1 hasn't been supported for over two years. Get yourself a copy of something more recent (Fedora 7 now, Fedora 8 next week).
Additonally, according to this there's a non-free plugin required. |
