Hi all,
I recently did a fresh install of Stretch on to my PC and installed the NVIDIA driver from the non-free repo. However, I do not have the option to start GNOME with Wayland. However, on my old ThinkPad with built in Intel graphics Wayland works ok.
Is there any additional process to get Wayland working with my NVIDIA GTX1060 on Debian Stretch with the proprietary driver?
Distribution: Debian Sid AMD64, Raspbian Wheezy, various VMs

Rep:
I was under the impression that the NVIDIA Wayland support isn't done yet but it should be there "any time soon" in the drivers. I know on my own desktop when I install Gnome Wayland (it needed to be installed explicitely) I couldn't actually use it but I'll admit I've not done any searching to find out any more.

While it works with modern GNOME (after some tweaks), it also adds some extra bugs and limitations.
You could also just consider using the working and free Nouveau driver (if it satisfies your needs).
So yes, getting those ugly nvidia drivers to work with Wayland is still a work in progress.
