segfault with svgalib on a compaq contura 4300cx
Hello,
I tried to set up svgalib on a Compaq Contura 4300CX notebook (w/ Debian 3.0). As the debian version (the one you get with apt-get) didn't work (because of a segmentation fault when trying to run an application that uses svgalib), I downloaded the source (version 1.4.3) and compiled it, but I still get segfaults when running svgalib apps. Is it maybe that the video chip isn't supported somehow? Anyway, all this is really bugging me, because I need to view pictures on that machine. Thanks in advance, Doktor Prokt |
i trust you are trying to do this without X running?
yes, X isn't even installed.
have you strace'd it yet?
Here's the strace output of "vgatest" (demo program which comes with the svgalib source)
whats the content of the /svga_lib/kernel directory? you have some modules in there dont you? svga_helper.o perhaps?
Hm, I don't have such a directory and I also searched for that module, but can't find it on my machine.
Thanks for your quick answers btw |
did you download the source and compile it?
yap.
i'm afraid i cant help you further as i dont have access to a linux box, its all from memory.
thanks for your help anyway
