no screens found
 
Hi, I just installed Debian Linux and when I try to startx i get a fatal error no screens found. I've tried dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 but I still can't get it to work right can anyone help please?
I have an Nvidia GForce2 MMX. Here is the log file.

Can we see the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 you are using there is a problem with the screens section in it. You may just have to frame buffer option it should not be necessary.

usually this denotes a bad X configuration.

as root install:

#apt-get install x-window-system discover mdetect read-edid icewm icewm-themes
#dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

and let the system autodetect

reboot
