Debian stable kernel
Hi all,
Just curious if anyone could explain why Debian and Slackware have not moved to a 2.6 series kernel yet for stable when so many others have? Is there still that many issues or are they just waiting until 2.6 is not the latest kernel? Thanks, m! |
Did you try typing linux26 at the boot prompt?
|
No I think you misunderstood me, my question is not how to get the 2.6 kernel... but why Debian stable is still at 2.4 and not 2.6.
thanks, m! |
Yeah, I misunderstood it, sorry.
I don't know the reason for a fact, but both slackware and debian users expect a robust install and the 2.4 series is more mature than 2.6. Just compare changelogs of 2.4.31 and 2.6.13 for instance. |
