A couple of weeks old thread but I thought I would just post here rather then start a new one on the same thing.

I am already using Debian Squeeze (Sid.) I am just wondering when it would officially be released and also what are they waiting for? More testing, a few bugs here and there maybe? Or is there a timetable they are going by.

Went From Ubuntu to Debian, Yeah I am backwards like that, lol. so I am not too familiar with how the releases work. I do know they are named after Toy Story Characters though.

There is no release schedule, like in Ubuntu, Debian Stable is released, when its done. That means the number of release-critical bugs is below a certain point. Have a look here.
The developers aim to a release date before christmas, but it is Debian, if it is not done then, it will be released later.

Thanks for the reply and link. I like How Debian does the releases and takes their time in order to do it right ( Hopefully ;-) )

Usually the holdup is on things like the installer or on one of the minor architectures. Debian doesn't release until the core packages are good enough on all the supported architectures, not just amd64 and x86. That's where the release critical bug tracking comes in...
