aptitude -f install Fails as "gcc-4.9-base" breaks "gcc-4.4-base"

Hi,

I am trying to install some packages on a VPS running Debian. I have switched between several distributions (the customized version of Debian provided by VPS provider, the Wheezy, and Squeeze).

Now I have ended up with a some broken packages and the following commands cannot fix it:

Code:
# apt-get clean
# apt-get update
# apt-get upgarde
# apt-get dist-upgarde
And when I try to fix broken packages:

Code:
# aptitude -f install
The following packages will be DOWNGRADED:
  libgcc1 libstdc++6
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  gcc-4.9-base{a}
The following partially installed packages will be configured:
  gcc-4.4-base
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 2 downgraded, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B/386 kB of archives. After unpacking 334 kB will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n/?] y

A package failed to install. Trying to recover:

Apparently the current installed package gcc-4.9-base prevents apt from installing gcc-4.4-base. Removing the gcc-4.9-base seems to be impossible as many essential packages depends on it.

Is it possible to resolve this broken installation?

Here is the /etc/apt/sources contents:

Code:
deb http://httpredir.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free
deb-src http://httpredir.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free

Unfortunately you've broken your system by mixing squeeze, wheezy and jessie. gcc-4.9-base is certainly a jessie package.

Your sources.list is also lacking the security repository and the jessie/updates repository.

The fact that a downgrade is suggested for libgcc1 and libstdc++6 suggests that the damage may already be done.

Have a look at and post the output of
Code:
$ apt-get -s dist-upgrade
if you want any further assistance.

Squeeze is considered old stable, use the sources generator
