How can I identify whether the VNC server is setup (configured) in CentOS 6.8

Start by checking if installed with

rpm -qa | grep -i vnc

Yes, it's there:

[root@centos-64bit /]# rpm -qa | grep -i vnc
libvncserver-0.9.7-7.el6_6.1.x86_64
[root@centos-64bit /]#

Does this mean it's installed and running?

Hi,

I think libvncserver is a package used for debugging.
For the VNC service you need to install tigervnc-server package.
You then follow this Red Hat official howto.

I had all of this working at one time.

I'm going to try to get this started again and I'll update this post as soon as I get this working.

Maybe a cmd that looks for 'TCP listening' service, like: netstat -tlpn
A creative `ps ax|grep ...` and sometimes the old: telnet localhost <it's port #>
