pulse audio installed...should i delete alsa sound now?

Running bodhi 1.3 and have installed pulse to try and get my wireless usb headphones and mic to work. Seems to work for some programs and other things like video downloads it doesnt. could alsa be causing a conflict and should i uninstall it?

Alsa shouldn't be conflicting with anything. What application are you using for video playback? Can you check it's preferences and see what it is set to use for audio output?

I use vlc. Vlc works fine though as i have this on pulse. Its youtube or any other web based sound output. Also finding my usb headphones are only sometimes working. Works with skype but music and vlc still come from the speakers.

Bit weird really. Config setting somewhere I imagine..... Any ideas?

Check your settings in the mixer module - it controls all the audio output on the system.

Solution

I had the same problem. I created a second profile for the wife and sound work on her profile. I logged back into my profile and renamed .pulse folder and .pulse-cookie file. Log out and log in created new preference files and fixed my sound issue.
