View Poll Results: Linux Desktop/Laptop Vendor of the Year
I voted system76 only because I am finding very good deals on used lemurs on ebay for a fraction of original cost. I have never bought a brand spanking new computer though. So maybe take my vote with a grain of salt.
i never bought from penguin-computing but someone from there did a presentation at my corporation a few years back (something about upgrading ibm s/390 mainframes to redhat, iirc) and gave the participants a tiny tux foam doll with their website on his chest.
i repped you up but do they do direct sales... so far i only see ebay/amazon listings in my quick search. also they seem to be barebones systems whgich are capable of running open-source software but no os (or hard drive) installed.
edit: this is their site where you can customize: http://fitpc.com/
i was serching for fit-pc (which translated to fitbut notpc).
i would also say no hp ?; but there linux based workstations were buried in their business solutions website but they may have been removed.
It might be worthwhile to also have an additional category for "mainstream"/"non-Linux-exclusive" vendor-of-the-year, for making Linux-friendly hardware, having good Linux support, documentation, etc.
For example, in such a category I'd probably cast my vote for Lenovo, but Dell would likely be a strong contender.
thanks for the link. i then went to dell.com to look for it but couldnt find it. their operating system dropdown filter only lists windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 10-home, 10-pro, ...
also the windows version costs more than $300 cheaper than the ubuntu version.
