hoots about "apps" I use my Blackberry for email, internet, text, phone and, occasionally, SSHing into my Pi, it does all that very well. I had an android phone for a few weeks an the only apps I wish I had on the Blackberry are the VLC and mpd remotes but, since I can SSH, that only leaves the VLC remote lacking and it's not something I would use all that much anyhow (and I've got an iPad for that as it's not much use for anything else, but that's another story). Horses for courses though and all that -- I'll not begrudge anybody an android phone full of intersting apps |
Chrome, Pale Moon or Firefox depending on the distro and which one works with the distro's "official" VLC web plugin.

Been using Konqueror lately. It's a lot stabler than it used to be. I may end up voting for it next year. I'm finding it's versatility very appealing.

Vivaldi
Today I discovered Otter browser, reading this thread. Yet another browser that came after the sad direction change of Opera. But a browser that seems to be the biggest jump toward something as good as Opera once was (until V12 only), and it not yet included here is Vivaldi.
It does not yet have all that I want in it and that the not recent (but far from "old") Opera 12 has. Vivaldi really seems promissing. Hopefully it will not inherit many bad details that come from the Chrom* core when it pass its beta releases. But, being usable for many people already, it should be included in the list, I think. |
Firefox. What's in your wallet??
